History, culture, food and wine, nature, sport and fun: you’ll find all this in Aosta, and the regional capital is the perfect destination for your holiday.
Here, where the main transit routes to France and Switzerland meet, the Romans founded the ancient Augusta Prætoria Salassorum, creating a city of which the traces are clearly visible to this day, and are exceptionally well-preserved: the Roman theatre, Porta Prætoria, Augustus Arch, Cryptoporticus, city walls and corner towers!
Restaurants, wine bars, wine shops, artisan workshops and artists' studios enliven the town centre.

And then there are the numerous events and festivals: from the thousand-year-old Sant’Orso Fair on 30 and 31 January to the Foire d'été in August, as well as the Christmas market, which here takes the name of Marché Vert Noël, an Alpine village created in the unique setting of the Roman Theatre.
If you love sport and the mountains, you will be spoilt for choice: Pila is just 18 minutes away by cable car, and a whole world awaits you there, with trekking, mountain biking in summer, skiing in winter.
In Aosta, you can choose to stay in the heart of the city or just outside it, if you prefer to be surrounded by nature.
