Skiing and snowboarding

Winter transforms everything, and the Aosta Valley changes its skin: the peaks become white and Aosta welcomes winter sports enthusiasts, who can also enjoy a visit to the Christmas markets and sample traditional dishes with authentic aromas and flavours.

At the foot of the Roofs of Europe

From the perennial snow of Cervinia to the seasonal snowfalls, skiing in the Aosta Valley is a uniquely thrilling experience. There are 25 ski areas and 553 downhill runs, ranging in difficulty from blue to black, as well as 360 kilometres reserved for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, not to mention the numerous trails for the increasingly popular discipline of ski mountaineering. All this is accompanied by extraordinary scenery, as you go skiing or walking at the foot of the most fascinating peaks in Europe: Mont Blanc, Matterhorn, Gran Paradiso and Monte Rosa.

A stone's throw from the city

Aosta is the only Italian city directly connected to the ski slopes. The Aosta-Pila cable car takes just 18 minutes to reach a 70-kilometre ski area for families and expert skiers.
From Pila, you can admire all the peaks of the Aosta Valley. The ski area offers 4 black, 21 red and 4 blue runs, as well as a special “baby zone” for the little ones and anyone looking to get to grips with the snow.

The professionalism of the Giubbe Rosse

You can’t fail to recognise them, in their bright red suits. The Aosta Valley ski instructors offer a professional service, with group or individual lessons seven days a week.

Don't have the equipment? Buy or rent it here!

Equipment can be purchased or rented in all the Aosta Valley downhill skiing and snowboarding resorts, as well as the cross-country skiing and snowshoeing areas. For the Pila resort, ski rental is available in town, at the cable car station or directly on the slopes.
